Electronic Arts is announcing that it has released two new video games for the Nintendo DSi, called SUDOKU and MySims Camera. They are just the beginning of a wider move on the part of the publisher to create video games that are uniquely suited to be played on the new device created by Nintendo, which sports two new cameras, a bigger screen and more battery life. The two titles can be downloaded by interested players from the Nintendo DSi Shop.

Rod Humble, who is the boss of the EA Play at the publisher, has stated that, “EA has fully embraced the Wii and the Nintendo DS, bringing custom-built DSiWare games to the Nintendo consumer is an exciting opportunity for us to reach DSi owners with easy to play games that they can download and play whenever they want. The lineup of games we have in development will appeal across the diverse DSi consumer base so whether players want to showcase their creativity and humor using MySims Camera or sharpen their math and word skills with SUDOKU– our first games in the DSi Shop will deliver a quick and fun experience.”

What all this corporate talk means is that Electronic Arts is interested in creating small, easy-to-develop and easy-to-publish video games for the DSi, aiming to tie them in with other franchises or deliver easy-to-comprehend challenges. MySims Camera is a direct tie in with the very popular Sims franchise, allowing players to take photos of persons and they overlay them with a 3D character that can then be customized and shared with friends.

SUDOKU is a popular, real-world game, which is suited for play on-the-go and that can easily be adapted to the touch-based controls of the Nintendo handheld. Electronic Arts is saying that it is preparing more titles for the platform, among them a Downtown Texas Hold'em card game.
