Bethesda has acquired the rights to publish STALKER 2, according to a noted Ukrainian blogger, who says that the large company may not have bought the property outright, but it has signed a contract with Sergei Grigorovich, the boss of STALKER developer GSC Game World.
STALKER 2 was in full development at the beginning of the year, but various problems forced GSC Game World
to close its doors, with many of its staff migrating to a new studio, called Vostok Games, which is currently working on a multiplayer post-apocalyptic RPG named Survarium
Around that time, Bethesda
was rumored to have purchased the rights to STALKER 2, but this was quickly denied
by Sergei Grigorovich, the founder of GSC.
Now, an Ukrainian blogger named Sergey Galyonkin has revealed, via a reliable source, that Bethesda has actually acquired the rights to publish STALKER 2, not the property itself.
The game’s development will be continued by a studio outside of the Ukraine, according to AGB
, with technology from Bethesda.
As of yet, the company hasn’t commented on this report, so who knows if STALKER 2 even exists.
