GSC Game World, the Ukrainian developer responsible for the hit STALKER series, has confirmed that it is still working on the full-fledged sequel to the first person shooter, thus denying rumors that it had been canceled.

STALKER 2 was announced some time ago but it seemed that the game’s fate, as well as that of its developer, was set to end prematurely, after a report from Ukraine said that GSC would close its doors.

The studio quickly released a statement confirming that things were uncertain, but that more details would be shared soon enough.

Now, according to a new post on the Facebook page of the game, things are back to normal, with the studio saying that, “The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays."

As of yet, STALKER 2 is set to appear for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. It’s unclear, however, if this whole cancelation problem will result in a delay into 2013.
