Leading mobile applications developer SPB Software has just announced the launch of a new version of its SPB TV for iPhone software solution, which also comes with native iPad support.

The SPB TV application was designed so as to work on existing 3G smartphones, and it already managed to reach a number of 2 million users. The software should see increased adoptions with its release on the iPad, the company announced.

iPad users have now the possibility to enjoy a great mobile TV experience on their devices, with access to a number of over 150 TV channels in more than 20 languages.

Some of the main features of SPB TV 2.5 for iPhone and iPad include:

- More than 150, subscription free, TV channels - Quick channel preview (picture-in-picture) - Integrated TV guide - Video-on-demand - Adaptive network bandwidth control - Channels from 17 countries - Fast channels launch and switching

According to the software maker, the number of SPB TV channels is growing, and users should soon enjoy a broader offering of relevant content.

The company announced the signing of a partnership with euronews, the popular international news channel in Europe.

“We noticed lately that more and more users watch TV on their mobile phones and iPad tablet. Moreover the format of euronews is perfectly suitable for viewing on mobile devices thanks to its format: all-images, short programmes, in several languages,” euronews stated.

“SPB TV with it user-friendly interface and powerful features is the right partner for euronews allowing users to access the channel without any subscriptions to any operator.”

SPB TV for iPhone can be used on Apple iPhone, Apple iPod touch and Apple iPad devices running firmware version 3.0 and above.

The application is available as a free download from the Apple AppStore, with no monthly fee included into the mix, but it is ad-supported (“an advertisement is shown while the stream is buffering when user opens a channel,” the company notes).
