Leading mobile software developer SPB Software has just announced the release of a new application for Nokia devices running under the Symbian platform, one that would provide users with access to the social network VKontakte.

The new mobile application was developed in collaboration with Nokia, and is aimed mainly at the company's customers in CIS countries, the company explained.

The new VKontakte application is meant to offer all of the necessary features and options that any mobile user would like to enjoy when accessing a social networking site.

“Nokia has a long-term relationship with SPB Software,” Sergey Rudenko, Head of Services, Russia at Nokia, said in regard to this application.

“And we are very satisfied with our partnership, because SPB solutions for Nokia are always unique and stunning products. VKontakte application for Nokia has the best in class quality and high engagement level with its customers.”

The VKontakte application should prove a great software for a number of over 100 million Vkontakte users, the mobile application developer notes.

The new mobile software comes with standard social network application functionality, all of which will arrive on the said Symbian devices in addition to a series of some unique features as well.

Meant to provide a great experience to Nokia phone owners in the CIS countries who are Vkontakte users too, the application offers: - geotargeting of VK users with an interactive map - contact synchronization with a phone address book - integrated audio and video player - calling or texting function directly from the application

“SPB created not just an app, we created the whole environment and entertainment collaboration platform around the Russian biggest social network,” Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, SPB Software CEO, commented on the new launch.

The new mobile application is already available for Nokia users in the CIS countries, and can be downloaded from the Ovi Store software portal here.
