A new way to overclock graphics cards

SPARKLE Computer announced the launch of the Super Clock Technology, SCT for short, that allows users to receive an instant bonus of 3D performance from their Nvidia powered GeForce 8 series of graphics cards that now come out of the box with a higher shader processing units clock in order to deliver more power in DirectX 10 games while keeping the price tags frozen solid.

The new graphics cards from SPARKLE are able to deliver a whole new level of performance in graphics centered applications like games that implement DirectX 9 or 10 functions thanks to the fact that they are built around Nvidia GeForce 8 series of graphics processing units and then they are paired with SCT. This new approach to overclocking is now in use on all SPARKLE GeForce 8 equipped graphics cards and instead of simply raising the memory or graphics core speeds, the new technology increases the operating speeds of the stream processing units.

Inside a GeForce 8 series of graphics processing unit the shader processors are responsible for creating the special effects and they also have the power to increase the quality of just about any 3D rendering, so the SCT approach is limiting the overclocking to those processors instead of raising the operating speed of the entire graphics core. Thanks to this approach the graphics card will not overheat, not will it be in danger to get damaged by a careless or inexperienced user.

''The stream processors play a very important role at DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 gaming rendering, so PC gamers can take great advantage from SCT," said Kevin Wang, sales director of SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd. "Thanks to our smart RD engineers, SPARKLE can provide much higher shader clock compared with NVIDIA reference boards in all series of GeForce 8 Graphic Cards. Now our consumers can immediately enjoy the extra performance out of box brought by extreme fast stream processors.''

When comparing the benchmarking results yielded by two SPARKLE graphics cards based on the GeForce 8500 GT GPU of which only one is implementing the SCT, it becomes clear that the new overclocking technology is a big leap ahead as the performance can be increased with as much of 20.81 percent over other methods.
