Apparently, the book that was just released,
'Blonde Ambition' by journalist Rita Cosby, is not the only thing that can do some damage to Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern's reputation and, why not, financial situation. As you already know, the book brings back the whole Anna Nicole Smith drama and raises, some could say, very logical question marks in what regards the real causes of Daniel Smith and Anna Nicole's deaths. The only ones who stand to lose from the publication of the book and the reopening of the investigations (granted Ms. Cosby based her book on facts and not hearsay or speculations) are Larry and, more over, Stern.
If things were quite not rosy for the long-time lawyer/friend/lover/almost-husband of the late Anna Nicole Smith until now, well, he'd better expect some crazy times ahead of him: another member of Anna Nicole's former entourage has come forth and filed a law suit against him, asking for $100 million in damages. The man is Mark 'Hollywood' Hatten, Anna's boyfriend for two years (from 2000 to 2002) and,
while many have already made up their mind and labeled him an 'insane psycho' (to quote their exact words), there still is the slightest possibility that he might be onto something.
In the past, when we managed to contact
Mr. Hatten in the prison facility he is currently serving time for allegedly assaulting Anna Nicole's neighbor and making criminal threats against the model herself, he insisted that he was never guilty of the reported crimes. All along (both during his trial and after it ended and he began to serve his time), Mark claimed that his jail sentence was nothing but Howard K. Stern's way of keeping him out of Anna Nicole and Daniel's life, in order for him to have total control over them. Now that we got to hear his side of the story here, including details of the night when Stern tried to poison Hatten and make it look like an accidental overdose, a judge will also get that chance and, if he later decides that Mark's prison stay has been nothing but unjust and on false grounds, he will also be $100 million richer. Not bad, not bad at all.
Hatten, via his legal representative, just filed a civil rights lawsuit at the United States District Court (case number CV075803RSWL), against one-time power attorney Howard K. Stern and six other co-defendants, claiming violation of human rights, conspiracy, libel, malice, infliction of both physical and emotional pain and, last but not least, defamation of character. In the court papers filed today, Mr. Hatten describes in accurate detail how Stern repeatedly tried to cut him out of Anna Nicole's life (including by killing him without remorse) and how the latter eventually came up with the idea of incarcerating Hatten, in order to see him out of the picture.
Mark's statement for us, when contacted about the lawsuit, was as follows:
'In this suit, Hatten alleges that his First, Sixth and Fourteenth civil rights were violated. Hatten has included conspiracy, slander, defamation of character, judicial fraud, malfeasance under color of authority, perjury, concealment of evidence, and coercion of witnesses in this lawsuit. Mark Hatten has recently been mentioned in Rita Cosby's newly released book entitled, 'Blonde Ambition'. On page 102, the book describes in detail Hatten's allegations against Howard K. Stern.
This ex-boyfriend of Anna Nicole Smith's has maintained that he has been falsely imprisoned on fabricated charges solely to remove him from Smith's life. For years, Mark Hatten voiced his concerns from his prison cell that Anna Nicole Smith was in danger. He pleaded with the public, as well as the authorities, to intervene before it was too late. This man has lost years of his life, time with his family, and the woman and her son that were his friends, as well as his heart-felt family. Mark Hatten is concerned, as are many Americans, about Howard K. Stern's current involvement with Larry Birkhead and Dannielynn Smith.
While Mr. Hatten will be released from prison long before this lawsuit is settled, he believes that justice will ultimately be served and that some peace will be restored to his life, even as he continues to mourn for both Anna Nicole and Daniel Smith.'
However, this is far from over: while Stern refused to make any comments the previous times that Hatten voiced his accusations, it's more than clear that he will be somehow forced to respond to a $100 million lawsuit. Especially when chances are that he doesn't even have that kind of money! So stay tuned here for more details. Story developing...
