John Smedley, the leader of Sony Online Entertainment, comments on the deal that affects European players of MMOs from the company, saying that a solution exists that will allow players to stay on SOE run servers if they do not want to move to ProSieben.

Speaking via Twitter, Smedly states, “We’ve found a way to let existing players of our current games that are migrating over to Prosieben (EQ, EQ II, Planetside 2) keep their SOE accounts and stay with SOE. Down the road we may offer an option to move over to Prosieben.”

“Just to be clear after these games launch on Prosieben’s service new accounts will be created on their sites. However all US and EU players can still play together no matter which service they are on,” the executive adds.

The executive thanks gamers for the way they offered feedback to the team working on the migration between the Sony Online Entertainment and ProSieben.

The two companies are being clear that they are now working towards a solution that will not divide the MMO communities they are both supporting.

Smedley also offers information on how Planetside 2, the big upcoming game from SOE, will be affected in Europe.

Those who are part of Alpha Squad and already have an account will not be forced to, but they will have the option to move while those who created new EU accounts after the game is officially out will have to work with ProSieben.

The SOE executive also makes it clear that those who play DC Universe Online and have already migrated their accounts will be unable to move back.

At the moment, SOE is working hard to put the finishing touches on Planetside 2, which is currently in beta stage.

The game is supposed to arrive before the end of the year on the PC, but the company has admitted that it will only launch it if no issues appear during beta.
