Sony Online Entertainment says that despite the current focus on the PC development of EverQuest Next, the team is also exploring options linked to the PlayStation 4 home console.

At the moment, SOE is working on versions of both Planetside 2 and DC Universe Online for the PS4 home console, which will be out soon after the new console is available.

David Georgeson, a producer at the company, tells Eurogamer that, “Now, you're dumb not to explore other options with a business of this type, but we're very serious about developing for the PC.”

EverQuest Next is an MMO that aims to introduce a number of new features, including a classless system, destructible terrain and options to influence the future state of the game world.

Some of them might require computing power that the PlayStation 4 cannot currently deliver and SOE might be looking to first deliver a solid version of the MMO on the PC before thinking about ports.
