Sony has announced that it has a clear release date for SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3. The PlayStation Portable spinoff will be delivered via UMD drive, for those who have a tradition handheld from Sony, but will also have a version uploaded to the PlayStation Store for those who are using the new Go variant of the console, which is getting all of its content via digital distribution. SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 was set to be released in November 2009 but was since then delayed twice before a new date was set for February 16.

The player will take control of a character named Sandman as he leads a special SEAL team in an effort to find a Russian informant who has crucial information related to an upcoming attack on the United States, which will use weapons of mass destruction.

Toro, Raven and Wraith will be the other members of the team and the single player campaign will allows gamers to experience intense firefights with a variety of weapon loadouts while emphasizing the team work aspect of being a special forces SEAL. The game will be played from a third person perspective and will also have some unlockable content.

There will also be a multiplayer component including a cooperative take on the campaign and versus modes. Players who are fighting along each other or against each other can gain a variety of medals and ribbons while also battling for a better place on the leaderboards.

The developers at Slant Six, who have also worked on SOCOM Confrontation and on Tactical Strike, are saying that the 70 weapons they are simulating in Fireteam Bravo 3 and the modifications offered for each of them allows for a lot of replayability as different approaches are tried out for each situation in the game.
