Video game publisher Sony has announced that those who will be picking up SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs when it is launched on April 19 will get an exclusive code that will allow them to access the upcoming Resistance 3 multiplayer beta.

Both video games are exclusive to the PlayStation 3 from Sony and are seen by the company as important releases because they can attract more gamers to the hardware platform.

The official PlayStation blog says that all the SOCOM 4 Full Deployment Edition packages, which are set to cost 150 dollars, will have the beta code for Resistance 3.

Players who get it will also receive a copy of the game, the PlayStation Move motion tracking add-on, the accompanying navigation controller, the Eye camera and another accessory that acts like a gun.

Apparently, normal editions of SOCOM 4 will also have the beta and will be sold in a limited number of stores, with special markings talking about the Resistance 3 beta stage.

Neither Sony nor developers Insomniac Games have said when those who have codes are able to access the beta or what the testing stage of the game will include.

Resistance 3 is set to be launched on September 21, which means that the beta might take place during the summer, giving the developers time to incorporate the feedback they get into the final version of the game.

SOCOM 4 is being developed by Zipper Interactive, which is also known for the MAG multiplayer shooter on the PS3, and will take the player to a war theater in South East Asia.

The player will take on the role of Cullen Gray, a touch special forces operative that controls a team of five people, with the ultimate aim of eliminating the threat posed by an extremist revolutionary group that wants to shut down the strategically important Straits of Malacca.
