SNL has delivered a poignant satire on officials' take on gun control, touching on how indecisiveness plays a part in the political process of imposing stricter regulations on gun ownership and use.

Said indecisiveness comes about when all political players are more concerned about keeping their jobs than making a stand, the skit implies.

President Obama is played by Jay Pharoah, Huffington Post notes. His character is vital in the skit, as he points out the flaws in the system.

Democratic senator Joe Manchin, played by Jason Sudeikis and Republican Patrick Toomey, whose part is delivered by Bill Hader also come into play, displaying their inability to make decisions.

"The Senate voted 68 to 31 to begin debating the idea of discussing gun control. […] Let me say that again, they've agreed to think about talking about gun control... amazing," Pharoah notes.
