Index Digital Media, Inc. along with developer Atlus has announced the release of Shin Megami Tensei for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, a port of the original classic RPG game with the same name that debuted on Super Famicom / SNES in 1992.

Translated as True Goddess Reincarnation, Shin Megami Tensei is set in Tokyo 199X, where “a mysterious murder leads to the emergence of demons and an escalating global conflict with the rise of a charismatic rebel leader in possession of a demon army, and external forces that wish to crush such threats with extreme measures.”

The developer promises 40-60 hours of “consuming RPG adventure.” The minimum system requirement is said to be iOS 4.3. Hardware-wise, Atlus says it’s “recommended” to play the game on iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (4th-gen or later), and iPad. Atlus doesn’t say which iPad generations are supported, but since the iOS requirement is iOS 4.3, the game should run fine even on first-gen tablets.

RPG fans can download Shin Megami Tensei for $5.99, which is a discounted introductory price, according to the developers.

“From now through March 31st, Shin Megami Tensei will be offered at a discounted price of only $5.99 [€4.35]. Don’t miss out! After March 31st, the game will return to its regular price of $7.99 [€5.80],” says Atlus.
