Since the electronics show known as ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) has started, companies set to attend the show are already announcing what they have on show, and NextWindows seems particularly eager to show off the 2550 ProfileTouch.
The Integrated Systems Europe Expo is taking place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, beginning February 1, 2011.
Needless to say, quite a few companies will be there, along with their sizable collections of devices and hardware.
SMART Technologies Inc. has a certain subsidiary by the name of NextWindows, which issued a
press release detailing the 2550 ProfileTouch.
In the company's own words, it is “a plug-and-play touch screen, meaning that no software drivers are required to operate it.”
It was designed for large-format applications and, compared to previous NextWindow solutions of this sort, has a lower profile and thinner borders.
Essentially, it can be more easily integrated into a wide range of displays and should end up being used in wayfinders, interactive digital signage, kiosks and educations environments, among other things.
“Our focus continues to be the production of innovative and affordable touch screens that can be quickly and easily incorporated into a wide range of large-format and desktop products,” says Al Monro, NextWindow’s CEO.
“We are very excited to announce the launch of the new 2550 ProfileTouch and look forward to working with systems integrators and OEMs as they develop new applications for the display.”
The 2550 ProfileTouch can be supplied as a kit of components, which includes a controller board, a passive border and optical sensors. In other words, clients would only have to assemble them on a glass substrate. Of course, already assembled models will also be available.
2550 ProfileTouch is compatible with Windows 7, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems and recognizes multi-touch gestures like zoom, tap, rotate and press-and-tap.
