Great opportunities for game developers

The leading online media company in China, SINA, announced today that it has joined Nokia, as a sponsor, in its Mobile Rules! Multyplayer Competition which has the purpose of discovering new talents in mobile game developing. This way, SINA is not only helping the global search for new talents but will also bring a new and innovative class of mobile games to China. Following SINA's desire to join the competition, Nokia extended the deadline for accepting SNAP Mobile platform games to September 24.

The Mobile Rules! Multyplayer Competition has exciting prizes and the wining game concepts based on SNAP Mobile will benefit from free development support and optimization for market deployment.

"SINA will provide the winners of the multiplayer competition with a fast track opportunity to distribute games in China. This competition encourages developers and publishers to raise the bar on mobile game innovation, and developers located anywhere in the world, can compete," says Terry Tian, Network Business Dept Director at SINA. "We are keen to add more SNAP Mobile based games to our portfolio, and see this competition as a unique way to speed deployment of innovative games to market."

The head of SNAP Mobile, Antoine Doumenc, said: "Based on our experience, many game developers and publishers are lacking global channels to bring their best innovative, connected mobile games to market. With SINA joining there will be attractive distribution channels in China. SINA offers a rare chance for developers to gain access to one of the largest mobile markets in the world. Together with the publicity that winners will receive in Mobile Game Development Magazine, among other great prizes, and this all cooks up into one attractive contest."

Besides game concepts based on SNAP Mobile, which must be submitted by September 24, developers can also submit multiplayer games based on any other platform, until January 25. Beta versions are also accepted, with the condition to feature backend technology and fully working multiplayer gaming functionality.
