A White iPhone 4 lacking a SIM card tray and boasting what appears to be a new antenna design can be seen in a purported leaked image posted by coveringweb.com, which admits that the picture might be a fake.

Quite frankly, we’re also more inclined to believe it’s a fake, rather than a real prototype iPhone 4. Such leaks are generally accompanied by low-quality imagery, whereas this picture is close to (amateur) perfection.

Nevertheless, White iPhone 4 news is always worth spreading. Even more so when the handset appears to be carried by Verizon, according to the top-left corner of its screen, as shown in coveringweb.com’s leaked image.

The lack of a SIM-card tray would also corroborate rumors that the American wireless operator is gearing up to launch a CDMA-supported version following an agreement signed behind closed doors with Apple.

Finally, a difference in antenna design can be observed.

While the original iPhone 4 design includes a metallic frame separated by a number of black stripes on the left, right, and top side of the handset, the steel surrounding this iPhone 4 appears to be seamless (at least on the right side where the SIM-card tray should also be located, according to the original blueprints).

The source of the leak concludes its findings as follows:

What's on the image? 1. The lack of a SIM card slot (Verizon doesn’t use SIM cards) 2. A new antenna design (Goodbye Antennagate) 3. The Verizon symbol as a network in the upper left of the screen.

To us, the whole deal seems a bit orchestrated.

For those who are not in the loop, as they say, Apple has delayed the public launch of its White iPhone 4 several times since its planned Summer 2010 debut.

The company has been mum as to what the actual reasons might be.

However, multiple sources claiming to be knowledgeable of such matters say that several flaws relating to the white paint, and the LED flash are the main reasons keeping it from reaching fans.
