SEVEN, a leading mobile email and messaging software provider, announced that it had been chosen to provide ‘Mail Movistar’ across Telefonica’s entire customer base, which included the consumer segment, launched June 1, as well as small office/home office (SOHO), small and medium enterprise (SME) and enterprise segments.
The company will provide Telefonica with an email solution that can offer both the sophistication required in the enterprise segment as well as the simplicity that an average consumer would need. According to the carrier, the use of one email solution for the entire customer base is meant to generate new revenue, as
the service would be used separately from the email. The company says that this is what happens in the business segment, and that more of its customers will now be able to enjoy the benefits mobile email can offer them.
“With SEVEN’s award-winning mobile email solution extended across its entire customer base,
Telefonica can focus its marketing efforts on promoting Mail Movistar to anyone in Spain ready to benefit from mobile email,” said Ross Bott, CEO and president of SEVEN.
Telefonica and SEVEN have worked together before, and their history includes the launch of the enterprise e-mail solution in May 2005, as well as the SME solution introduced in February 2006. The mobile phone carrier announced that the new
mobile email came at no additional charges with the newly launched consumer services that feature rates as low as 6, 10 and 15 Euros. The email solution offers support for Microsoft Live Hotmail, Gmail and Terra as well as for Telefonica’s own email account.
Through SEVEN, mobile users can access the email services they want from any device they want. The solution enables consumers to access the most popular corporate and personal email, calendar and contact applications via the same software interface. Moreover, SEVEN is compatible with a wide range of mobile OSes, including Symbian, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Java, BREW, Palm and Android.
