When you develop a website, the first thing that comes in your mind is to improve it to obtain more views, visitors and revenues. Many of us are using some SEO tricks to increase the position of the website in the search engines' ranks but an important part doesn't even think about optimizing the images.

If we take a look at the number of sites that are based only on images and their distribution, we easily understand that using a SEO technique for optimizing them is almost vital for website's development.

How can we do this without the practice required to learn professional procedures? Well, there are simple steps that you can use to obtain better performance from your pictures.

The first one I present is the name of images that must be adequate to the object in the picture and describe perfectly what it contains. So it's easier for users to find your pictures if you'll entitle them "softpedia.jpg" rather than "pic0001.jpg".

The second tip is related to the text included in the image that is more likely to describe the object in the picture than a random text. "Google analyzes the text on the page adjacent to the image, the image caption and dozens of other factors to determine the image content. Google also uses sophisticated algorithms to remove duplicates and ensure that the highest quality images are presented first in your results," the company says. The last trick refers to the size of the images compared to their quality. The size is increased by the quality of the pictures as well as the time needed to load an entire image on different types of internet connections.
