SEGA has announced the launch of a new download only Xbox 360 based video games, SEGA Rally Online Arcade, which can now be downloaded on the Microsoft home gaming console by those who are looking for a fast pace, enjoyable and easy to get into racing experience.

The game cost 800 Microsoft Points, which is the equivalent of 10 real world dollars.

The twin inspirations for SEGA Rally Online Arcade are two other titles from the same publisher, Rally Revo and Rally 3, which means that the game, despite having the Rally name, is very arcade oriented, with the cars performing with a distinct lack of interest in the laws of physics that apply in real life.

The game includes no less than 13 cars, including such crowd pleasers as Subaru WRX, Ford Focus and Mitsubishi Evo, and there are five different tracks to race them on.

SEGA Rally Online Arcade offers split screen multiplayer for those who want to play locally and support for up to six players over Xbox Live and the developers are promising exciting battle for top position in multiplayer.

There are also Achievements for those who care about their gamer profile and online leaderboards to stoke competition between friends.

Haruki Satomi, who is a vice president of Digital Business working for SEGA, has stated when the game was launched that, “SEGA Rally has always been a series that allows gamers to pick up and start playing immediately.”

He added, “Providing this newest version as a downloadable title is an extension of that ability, allowing players to purchase and receive the game rapidly. From there, they can join an online race right away, and compete at any time, day or night, against an entire world of opponents.”

A version for SEGA Rally Online Arcade is also planned for the PlayStation 3.
