SEGA has announced an agreement with Universomo, an independent European mobile game developer, for the development of a selection of its games.

This deal comes right after SEGA had extended its development and publishing agreement with Glu Mobile, through which Glu is to develop and publish SEGA titles throughout Europe.

At the moment, Finland-based Universomo also has two titles in development for SEGA, which are scheduled to be released this Spring. In addition to producing the two games, Universomo is also responsible for porting them across various handsets.

Glenn Wissner, Senior Producer for Sega of America comments on Universomo, "Working with Universomo has been a pure pleasure. These guys are very professional and skilled mobile developers. Universomo really understands SEGA product and have been excellent in keeping to original designs while also adding their own spin and taking our well known brands to a new level of quality. They meet their objectives and often exceed our expectation in the areas of game design, playability and art direction. I look forward to working with Universomo on future games and would highly recommend them as a mobile game developer."

Throughout last year, Universomo developed 17 games for a variety of publishers. The games include Lego Star Wars 2, Rollercoaster Rush, Destroy All Humans! 2 and Gorillaz Entertainment System.

The partnership with SEGA is one of the main highlights of the year aside from the company opening a game studio in Los Angeles California in the autumn last year, said the Managing Director of Universomo USA, Atte Kotiranta. SEGA seems to have become very interested in making mobile versions of their games available for customers, and via the partnerships they have established, quite a few SEGA titles will become available throughout this year.
