Developer of the Strategic Command grand tactical series, Hubert Cater has recently made a new blog entry, revealing that the SC2:WAW add-on has entered final beta testing stages. The excerpt we've made available below will provide an insight to what development on the add-on was focused on.
"Just a quick update that Weapons and Warfare has finally entered the last stage of Beta and if all goes well we should be going Gold reasonably soon."
With the bulk of development focused on the AI and single player mode, single player promises to be a much more immersive experience with the new and improved AI and multimedia additions including rare audio speeches and news reports as well as historic photographs and communications from the front, I am also pleased to announce that the final months brought Terif and Jollyguy on board to give the multiplayer aspect some final touches. As reported to me so far, the good news is that although some of the unit and map changes will bring about quite a few new strategies, the multiplayer aspect has so far shown itself to be very well balanced. A Terif stamp of approval if you will."
As far as campaigns go, Cater confirmed that "the final touches to the campaigns were just concluded today and with the new unit, rail and road additions you will find that all the previous campaigns and scenarios as well as the new additions play quite well and markedly better than ever before." Here's the lot:
1939 Fall Weiss
1940 Fall Weserubung
1941 Fall Barbarossa
1942 Fall Blau
1943 Operation Husky
1944 Operation Overlord
1936-39 Spanish Civil War
1941-42 North Afrika
1941-45 Battle For Russia
Poland
Uranus
D-Day
Market-Garden
Wacht Am Rhein
Zitadelle
Remember, the SC2: WAW add-on has entered its final beta testing stages so just like the man said, the game "should be going Gold reasonably soon." Be sure to check back from time to time so you know exactly when that occurs.
