SBK: Snowboard Kids, or Snowboard Kids Party, as it is known in Japan, is a snowboarding video game that was developed by In-Glove and published by Atlus exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The title was released on November 22, 2005 in North America, on November 24 in Japan and on April 28 in Europe, the next year.
The game is the fourth in the Snowboard Kids series, which saw three previous titles released for the Nintendo 64 and the original PlayStation. The Nintendo DS version allows up to four people to play via the Wireless connection with a single game card. Though its name shows that kids will be playing, the characters are, in fact, teenagers.
Speaking of characters, long-time fans of the series will notice that Linda Maltinie, who was the character that started all of the competitions in the other titles, is absent, being replaced by Brad, who is a relative of hers. Also, Shinobin and all of the playable characters who debuted in the Snowboard Kids Plus and Snowboard Kids 2 aren't present in this title.
SBK: Snowboard Kids has seen a lot of changes as opposed to its predecessors, a fact that didn't garner it a lot of praises, as reviewers and gamers didn't like the redesign of the characters, who had abandoned the super deformed style in favor of a more life-like one. Also, the fact that some of their attitudes changed meant that people who liked them didn't have anything to make them buy this new title.
