Since fan controllers only have a limited number of channels, this will help

For high-end PCs, it isn't too hard to get a good fan controller with multiple PWM channels. Still, when the number of fans goes overboard, sometimes even they aren't up to the task.

Which is to say, the four, five or six channels may not be enough. So Swiftech decided to invent a PWM splitter. Thus, the 8-Way PWM splitter was born.

The product is called that way because a SATA port is used to draw power, even though it's a PWM fan connector that manages speeds.

Sure, using one of these means that eight fans will behave precisely the same, but that's not really a problem when you want to be able to make your PC quieter quickly. Turning down the speed on 8 fans at once can definitely help there.

The new product has 8 Males 4-pin connectors (Channel 1 carries RPM signal), one female 4-pin mini-connector, one male SATA connector, a peel-off sticker and mounting screws.

Finally, RoHS compliance means the SATA 8-way PWM Splitter is made with very few, if any, hazardous materials.

Some Swiftech coolers ship with this splitter by default, like the Swiftech H220. It's definitely a good change of pace when power is drawn directly from the PSU (power supply) instead of through the motherboard.

Of course, in high-end PCs mainboards usually have strong enough components to handle high loads and keep electricity stable throughout.

Still, power pins are never in unlimited supply, and it's just not as straightforward to install cables as with a splitter. Not to mention that having something like this 8-Way PWM splitter with SATA could make it easier to hide the cables as well.

If the chassis of the desktop has a side window, that's nothing to scoff at. People usually want to see glowing LEDs of the fans themselves, or the overpowered graphics card and huge CPU coolers, and the cables would make that a problem. Sadly, pricing was not mentioned.
