Julianne Moore won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards 2015, for her role in “Still Alice,” and she used her acceptance speech to show loyalty once more to the soap opera that helped her get her start in the industry, “As the World Turns.”

In an industry where egos fly so high that many of today’s big names act as if they no longer remember where they came from, Julianne’s case is like a breath of fresh air – not only has she not forgotten her start on the soap opera but she even included a mention about it in her speech, as you can see in the video below.

“When I was on ‘As the World Turns,’” she said, “I was so excited when they wrote two parts for me, the classic twin sister role, the good and the evil one... and then I realized it was super boring to act by myself. And what I really loved, what I really craved, was being with another actor.”

She explained that working with actors was the number one reason she kept working, and stressed that this was the reason why the SAG meant more to her than any other award, because it was handed to her by her peers.

“When I was on ‘As the World Turns’” was instantly dubbed online the best opener this awards season, and Zach Galifianakis also used it in his own speech, when he walked up on stage later in the evening with his “Birdman” cast to accept the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

While we’re on the topic, we should add that Moore won a Daytime Emmy in 1988 for her role as Frannie and Sabrina Hughes, and she had such fond memories of the soap opera that in 2010, she resumed her role with a cameo on the finale.
