She was the most spectacular presence on the red carpet

Jennifer Aniston loves a little black dress for most red carpets, but when she does take a risk, she makes sure she goes all the way. After wowing the press and all fashion gurus at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2015 some days back in a very low-cut pants suit, she opted for a similarly low-cut gown for last night’s SAG Awards as well.

The result was much more dramatic than the first time around, but that’s mostly because the dress was a stunning piece, with or without the daring cleavage.

Vintage Galliano, a sure winner

Again, though she’s always very elegant and stylish, Jennifer Aniston doesn’t really take risks on the red carpet: she always favors the same kind of designs, the same kind of styling and pretty much the same type of jewelry.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because she’s found her look and she sticks to it – and she looks gorgeous, while we’re at it –, but it does eliminate the element of surprise completely. Well, last night was one of those rare times when Jennifer took a sartorial risk and it paid off for her.

She told reporters on the red carpet that the dress, which shimmered and had a snakeskin kind of detail on it, but also a black lace border on the bottom half, was a vintage Galliano piece she’d fallen in love with the first time she set her eyes on it.

She wore her hair in her usual style, somewhere between bedhead and perfectly flat-ironed, and opted for oversize gold earrings. The only other jewelry pieces on her were a few bangles, her huge diamond engagement ring and a body chain – one of those she also wore at the Critics’ Choice Awards, that sat right between her breasts.

Throughout the ceremony, because of the bold cleavage, Jennifer was forced to keep it covered with her hand whenever she bend too low or she stopped to speak with her peers, so as to avoid any possible, unwanted wardrobe malfunctions.

Of course, on Jennifer’s arm, was fiancé Justin Theroux, who wasn’t able to keep his eyes off her.

A loser but not really

Jennifer Aniston was nominated for Best Actress for her role in “Cake” but predictably lost to Julianne Moore for “Still Alice.” She handled the moment with the utmost grace, and even though she didn’t win any of the awards she was up for with this role, she is far from a loser.

If anything, Aniston had the best year of her career in a very long time, because even if she doesn’t have all those awards on the mantelpiece, she has the critics’ approval: she isn’t just a comedy actress, she can carry a dramatic movie just as well.

It’s been years since she seems to have plateaued at rom-coms, but “Cake” helped her pull out and through. Jennifer Aniston may not have any award to show for the amazing year she had, but her career has received an unprecedented boost, because she’s earned more credibility in the industry.
