Screen icon Dick Van Dyke was the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAG Awards last night. Above is his acceptance speech.

Bouncing up on the stage to accept the award from Alec Baldwin (to whom he mistakenly referred as Tony Bennett), the 87-year-old star looked more energetic and upbeat than most stars in the audience half his age.

His smile could literally melt ice.

Dick thanked his friends and family, but also his fellow actors for doing more than just screen work and getting involved in humanitarian campaigns all over the world.

He ended his speech by saying that, “if this award means I can call myself your peer, then I am happy,” and then ran off stage smiling – and leaving the award behind.

Check it out.
