S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat might have gotten its release in the CIS, the area that covers pretty much of the former Soviet Republic, back in October 2, 2009, but the game had little to show for itself as far as the rest of the world was concerned. With the title released, it took little time for the gaming community to try to make this an international launch, by giving it a far more accessible English interface and dialogs, but while the effort was greatly appreciated, the end-result was rather poor. However, the waiting for a proper Pripyat experience ends today, as bitComposer Games and Viva Media are ready to give the game to the entire world.

Today, the title received its official North American release, while the European and Australian one will come three days from now, on February 5. Players will have to fill the shoes of Major Degtyarev, an experienced stalker, as he enters the radioactive zone as an undercover agent. The title will also add plenty of new things, and not just polished graphics.

As far as the gameplay goes, Call of Pripyat will feature "70 custom missions and extended side quests," new monsters like the Chimera and the Burer, a "sleep" mechanic added to the game, as well as the possibility to continue it in freeplay after you've completed the campaign.

The game uses the X-Ray v.16 engine and fully supports DirectX 11.0, and if that might sound a bit intimidating to those with slightly lesser gaming rigs, then the publishers of Call of Pripyat have also released the minimum system requirements. While the title will probably look pretty bad on these specs, it's really nice to see the low standard. The game's recommended price is of $39.99, so, if you enjoyed previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R titles, then there's no reason to shy away from this one.

The released minimum requirements are listed below.

Minimum System Requirements:

- Windows XP/SP 2; - Intel Pentium 4.22 GHz/AMD Athlon XP 2200+; - 768 MB RAM/6GB free hard drive space; - nVidia GeForce 5900/ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB VRAM; - DirectX 9.0 compatible.
