In what celebrity bloggers have labeled the biggest pop collaboration of our times, Rihanna and Britney Spears unleashed on their fans a fierce remix for Rihanna’s single “S&M.” Check it out in the video embedded at the end of the article.

The single, which is the same one that got Rihanna in hot waters with photographer David LaChapelle after the video came out, has been reworked to include vocals from Britney.

So far, reaction to it has been amazing, with MTV calling it confirmation that both Rihanna and Britney could get hotter than they were before.

It seems that the collaboration is a result of Rihanna’s asking her Twitter followers which artist they’d love more to see her work with on her next project.

“On Monday morning (April 11), Rihanna premiered a brand-new remix (or, as she put it, ‘RIHmix’) of her controversial hit, featuring an assist by none other than Britney Spears,” MTV says.

The whole thing happened on Twitter, as noted above.

“The seeds of the Rihanna/Britney team-up were actually planted earlier this month, when RiRi asked her 4.4 million Twitter followers which artist they’d most like to see her collaborate with,” MTV writes.

“The overwhelming answer was, of course, Spears. And so far, both superstars seem rather pleased with the result,” adds the e-zine.

Before the song came out, though, both stars couldn’t help teasing fans on Twitter with all sorts of innuendo flying back and forth, and praising each other for their work.

Eventually, the track came out and, if we’re to believe buzz online, it’s even better than the original, which only included vocals from Rihanna – or Ri Ri, as Britney now calls her.

Then again, there are also a few voices saying that Britney adds nothing to the song because she’s only trying to sing like Rihanna, and that, because of this, Rihanna’s version was better.

In the end, it’s probably just a matter of taste. Check out “S&M,” by Rihanna and Britney Spears and, of course, speak your mind in the comments section below.
