Xbox One exclusive action adventure title Ryse: Son of Rome will come to PC later this year, developer Crytek has just announced.

Crytek intends to self-publish the digital version of the title, and publisher Deep Silver will take care of the boxed retail version.

The PC version of the game supports resolutions up to 4K and is bundled with all the Ryse: Son of Rome DLC packs that have been released since the game's debut on the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft, in November 2013.

"We've given our team the opportunity to show what CryEngine can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers. Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future."

"Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible," the statement from the company reads.

The game has just won the Siggraph award for best real-time visuals in a video game, and the developers intend to step up the game and further enhance the visual quality of the title for PC gamers.

A deal for Ryse 2 was in the works at some point with Microsoft, but it didn't come through when Crytek refused to grant Redmond the rights to the franchise.
