Ryse: Son of Rome has just received a free update that brings two new level events for the Gladiator mode, but also a new premium add-on called the Colosseum Pack that includes new arenas and skins.

Ryse: Son of Rome launched alongside the Xbox One back in November and has so far impressed quite a few owners of Microsoft's next-gen console with its brutal hack and slash gameplay.

Now, developer Crytek has confirmed that a fresh update has been rolled out for the game on the new console, bringing two new Gladiator events to the multiplayer mode. At the same time, a premium add-on called the Colosseum pack is also available.

Check out the things included in the update and DLC below, via Xbox Wire.

A free game update to “Ryse: Son of Rome” introduces the following to Gladiator mode:

Two New Level Events:  As you slay barbarians in the arena, two new level events will occur randomly across a variety of maps. In the first, a new enemy turret will appear and bombard your Gladiator with deadly arrows until destroyed. In the second, Reward Statues of Roman deities will emerge from the sands and can be activated as a one-time bonus to boost your Gladiator’s Health or Focus.

Ryse: Son of Rome Colosseum Pack:

Two new arenas: Henge and Ascension. Henge tasks Gladiators with seizing an ancient forest shrine from hordes of barbarians and securing it for Rome. In Ascension, combatants must fight their way through the burning embers of Hades' lair up to the lavish surface world.

Two new Gladiator skins: Commodus and Centurion. Don the opulent golden breastplate of Commodus, the twisted son of Emperor Nero, or the battle-tested armor of a Roman Centurion.

While the update and its new levels are free, the Colosseum pack costs $3.99/€3.99 via the Xbox Live Marketplace. Those who have the game's Season Pass bundle get it for free.
