Defense of the Ancients aka DotA is one of the most popular custom made maps for Warcraft III. To allow players a better understanding of this complex and sometimes intricate game here is a hero guide.
Rylai Crestfall, the Crystal Maiden is an Intelligence hero that can be selected from Sentinel's tavern. Rylai is all about spells, even her passive skill screams that out by giving you mana regeneration.
Let's take a quick look at the story behind this cool hero: "adept in the manipulation of frost and ice, Rylai is the very image of elegance and grace.
Trained by a renegade wizard deep in the heart of Winterspring, Rylai brings to the Sentinel her prowess in the arts of magic.
With a vast arsenal of spells, she wreaks havoc upon her foes - be it with powerful blasts of frost to send them fleeing in panic, or be it by rendering them immobile in ice.
Her foes tremble in fear as the ground beneath implodes in mighty novas of frost in a dazzling array, obliterating all who dare oppose her."
This can be a great support hero in early and middle game, while in late game (if fed properly) can become a real killer. All of her 3 active skills and one passive skill scream team play:

Crystal Nova (shortkey V): this will blasts enemy units around a target point with a wave of damaging frost of 100/150/200/250 that slows movement speed and attack rate for 3.5/4/4.5/5.
This skill makes a great slow on early levels that turns into a decent source of AoE damage later. Its range is also outstanding.

Frostbite (shortkey E) - it will freeze the target in a case of ice, prohibiting movement and attacking. Deals 70 damage per second and lasts 1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds, depending of the level.
Frost Bite is a great disable which is very useful during the entire game. It lasts longer and does more damage on early levels than similar spells but in return it only prevents few spells from being cast and the damage does not increase by much.

Brilliance Aura (shortkey R): gives additional mana regeneration of 0.5/1/1.5/2 to all friendly units on the entire map so upgrade this skill for the team!
This passive skill is among the most useful abilities in the game. It will make your allies win their lanes without you even needing to gang.

Freezing Field (shortkey Z): will causes many random icy explosions in an area surrounding Rylai that deal: 105/170/250 damage. Enemy units in the Freezing Field are slowed. The spell only lasts for 4 seconds.
Aghanim's Scepter improves explosion damage to 170/250/310. Under the right circumstances it has the potential to wreak havoc, but often it's canceled early.
The amount of heroes that Crystal Maiden can form strong lanes with is incredible and only matched by very few heroes.
As Crystal Maiden your role is typically to initiate the gangs. If you can get in Bite range then you should Bite your enemy first and use Nova once Bite has worn off.
Those are the stats of a fragile caster. As you can see though, while her damage and attack animation are nothing to brag about they're not much worse than those of most casters, so try to make good use of them!
