Ryan Reynolds may be a very busy man these days but that’s not to say a Deadpool spinoff isn’t happening any more. Not only will it be made, it will also be more than just a superhero flick, the actor promises.

Reynolds is slowly but surely becoming one of the most bankable actors of the day, which would explain why he’s literally showered with movie offers.

Just now, for instance, he’s shooting for “The Green Lantern,” while also promoting “Buried,” while also preparing for several other projects.

With all this – and regardless of what rumors may claim – he’s still fully committed to the Deadpool spinoff, which remains his top priority, he says for Hero Complex.

Though it’s been quite a while since anything new about the film has been heard, Ryan says he remains on board of the spinoff – and is even willing to offer some details about it.

Like, for example, how it will aim to be more than just a regular superhero flick.

“It goes in such a different direction than a superhero movie usually goes. It’s a nasty piece of work. It’s just based in so much emotional filth, completely. It’s like Barfly if it were a superhero movie,” the actor explains.

“It sort of treads into the world of an emotionally damaged person. I always say that Deadpool is a guy in a highly militarized shame spiral…. It’s so different than the superhero movies to date, it departs so far from that,” Ryan adds.

However, even if the film is trying to explore new dimensions, as compared to the rest of the superhero films out there, its focus will remain on the fans.

This is something that Reynolds has spoke about before and that he reinforces now: all the attention of the people behind Deadpool is on satisfying the fans.

“With Deadpool, early on you have to establish that moral flexibility. There’s a gamble to it – you’re going to lose a few people right at the beginning but you take the gamble and know that eventually you’re going to win them back,” Reynolds says of the possibility of alienating the fanbase.

“You won’t lose the hard-core fans of the character, they already know who he is. We have to play to a broader audience than that,” he goes on to say.

As of now, further details on Deadpool are not known. Word has it “Zombieland” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working on the script, while Robert Rodriguez himself might be directing it.
