After seven years of apparently happy married life, Reese Witherspoon decided to divorce Ryan Phillippe amidst rumors about him cheating on her. Although the 'Walk the Line' star, also known as 'America's sweetheart', never came public about her decision and never commented about it to the press, various sources confirm that Ryan did indeed cheat on her with his co-star, Australian actress Abbie Cornish.

In November, the hunkie actor sort of admitted to his share of guilt in the collapse of the marriage, by issuing the following statement: 'I'm not a perfect person, but I'm not guilty of a lot of the things that I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family'. And yet, he kept denying having an affair with Cornish.

Now, Phillippe is apparently struck with post-separation remorse, according to various tabloids. 'Life & Style Weekly' has information that the actor made a very special New Year's resolution to get back his estranged wife, to make her forgive him and have him back.

'Ryan misses his family. He misses her. He's been calling to Reese to tell her how he's never loved anyone as much as her', an insider told the mag. Until now, the actress has been keeping a tight lip on the whole sordid affair, but word has it that she already moved on from the failed marriage.

Various sources linked her to her 'Rendition' co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, with whom she was repeatedly seen talking, giggling and getting somewhat intimate. Although she duly dismisses the rumors, Witherspoon banned all mobile phones and cameras from the set of the movie, so as to avoid such stories from appearing in the media.
