Jimmy Kimmel has been surpassing himself lately, and last night's interview with Ryan Phillippe was no exception. Of course, the highlight of the evening was the... ahem, controversial night-vision sex tape in which Phillippe was rumored to be involved and which turned
out to be true. The fact is, the talk show host seems to be on a roll ever since his girlfriend Sarah Silverman publicly admitted that she had in fact been sleeping with Kimmel's nemesis Matt Damon, a taped revelation shortly followed by the release of Kimmel's own confession of an equally scandalous gay affair with Damon's best friend Ben Affleck. This time, it was Ryan Phillippe's turn to send the audience into fits of hysterical laughter and he rose to the occasion spectacularly.
Phillippe was on the show to promote his upcoming movie Stop Loss which he claimed was centered on the human story and less on the grim realities of war, a theme which was intensely exploited in recent productions and failed to fare at the box office. "The film is really about the soldiers… and what it’s like for them to come back home… the response we’ve gotten from the military has been incredible. They’ve all said thank you because it truly tells the soldiers’ story. The sacrifice they make for us is far beyond anything any of us will ever really have to experience," Phillippe stated. Once he got the promotional segment out of the way, however, it was controversy time for the actor, who saw his greatest fear exposed live on TV.
The "sex tape" in question is, of course, a spoof. However, it left the audience roaring and gasping for breath, while a deadpan Phillippe headed down the well-known denial path, not before reprimanding his alleged sex romp mate, who just happened to be in the audience. The funny part is that the lady in question turned out to be none other than Kimmel’s own female security guard, Veatrice, as you can see from the clip embedded below. It's funny, slightly over the top, but it does work, in the "funny video" tradition that links guests to Kimmels' Show. Enjoy.
