Creator of hit Fox series is thinking ahead, will continue just with Lea

Hit Fox series “Glee” will end with season 6 but creator Ryan Murphy isn’t slamming the door on the idea just yet. In fact, insiders familiar with the situation say for Radar Online, he’s already working on a spinoff for Lea Michele.

Michele has long been rumored to be Murphy’s favorite and, considering the popularity of her character as well, perhaps this unconfirmed rumor (for now) isn’t really that surprising. So, when Fox will say goodbye to the hit musical series, fans will probably get a Michele spinoff instead.

The celebrity publication hints that Murphy got the idea after Cory Monteith’s death; Cory was Lea’s real-life boyfriend and played her love interest on the show as well.

“This will be announced soon. They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging,” an insider explains.

“This is definitely happening,” adds another.

If you think about it, it was about time the “Glee” cast grew up, so perhaps a spinoff would be just the thing to make that happen in a very natural, unforced way. Whether fans will still tune in is an entirely different matter altogether.
