After the success of “Blue Valentine,” Ryan Gosling and director Derek Cianfrance joined forces once more for the family drama “The Place Beyond the Pines,” in which Gosling plays a motorcycle stuntman turned bank robber.

In one scene in the movie in which his character goes in and robs a bank, they actually used a real bank as location – with real customers, Ryan reveals in a new interview cited by WENN.

I can only imagine that Cianfrance thought this would add to the tension and make the scene all the more convincing.

Ryan says it didn’t exactly play out like that, perhaps because the customers recognized him.

“I'm there with a gun and I look down and people are just smiling. They were just enjoying the show and I think I spotted someone filming me on their camera phone as I robbed the place,” he says.

The Place Beyond the Pines” also stars Eva Mendes, Bradley Cooper, and Ray Liotta. Above is the official trailer.
