Lauren Penny boasts about the dreamiest encounter of her life, which also saved it

There's a very good reason why people love Ryan Gosling and, believe it or not, it has almost nothing to do with his good looks. As Time also put it last year, he is just one of the coolest guys around – and no one knows that better now than British journalist Lauren Penny.

Known for being an overall awesome guy who never thinks twice before stepping in and breaking up a street fight, Ryan recently saved Penny's life, as she writes on her Twitter page, as cited by The Observer.

Penny's credits include the New Statesman, the Independent, the Guardian, Al-Jazeera, and The Nation, so she's definitely not some blogger-type who might be looking for the extra publicity she could get by fabricating a story.

She says the whole thing went down in New York City, where she was almost run over by a speeding cab – had it not been for Ryan, who pushed her out of harm's way.

“I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi,” Laurie rights.

What's even funnier is that she didn't know who he was, and would probably still not know if some random woman passing by hadn't told her.

“He did not say 'hey, girl.' He said 'hey, watch out!'” Laurie explains.

“Identity of no-idea-if-actually-a-manarchist-but-definitely-a-decent-sort Ryan Gosling confirmed by girl near me, who said 'you lucky [expletive]',” the journalist further says.

While Laurie herself must surely feel grateful for the strange and live-saving encounter, Gosling's fans are also happy that the publicization of said encounter further confirms what's already been well known: that he is one of the few stars in Hollywood one would definitely love to hang out with in an “unofficial” capacity.
