Just in case you thought Ryan Gosling couldn’t possibly get any cooler, you should know that his brand new interview with GQ is out – and he admits he loves to knit in it.

Gosling, known as one of the most talented actors of his generation but also a very sensitive man who is not afraid to talk about his softer side in interviews, is bound to earn himself countless (female) fans with this new admission.

Speaking with the February 2013 issue of GQ Australia, the handsome actor admits he’s a fan of handiwork, Today reports.

“I did this scene in ‘Lars and the Real Girl’ where I was in a room full of old ladies who were knitting, and it was an all-day scene, so they showed me how. It was one of the most relaxing days of my life,” Ryan tells the magazine.

Knitting is the kind of hobby that combines relaxation / pleasure and usefulness, so there’s really no way you can not win with it.

“If I had to design my perfect day, that would be it. And you get something out of it at the end. You get a nice present. For someone who wants an oddly shaped, off-putting scarf,” Ryan jokes.

He goes on to say that he always had an inclination towards this kind of things, since the day he and his uncle, who was an Elvis Presley impersonator, would work together on his costumes.

“When I was a kid, (my uncle) was certainly the most interesting thing going on in the house. He made his own costumes, did all the sequins – it took months. And I became a bit like his shadow, helping him when I could,” the actor explains.

“He was in the mirror, working on the voice and singing, and he (slowly) created this character, and then he put together an act and performed in a local talent show. And because I was so interested, he made me the head of security. As a joke,” Ryan adds.

Gosling can now be seen on the big screen in the star-studded “Gangster Squad,” in which he plays a cop going up against LA mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn).
