Ryan Gosling isn’t just a famous and talented actor (handsome too!), Ryan Gosling is famous in ways many fellow thespians will never be: he is Tumblr and Reddit famous. He has memes and a very loyal and large fanbase online that would do anything to support him and spread the word on his talent, beauty, and overall awesomeness.

Imagine what happened when Ryan Gosling suddenly decided to break his silence and, for once, share a very personal detail of his life on Facebook. This Sunday was Father’s Day so, when everyone took a moment to celebrate the most important man in their life, Ryan wanted to be a part of the experience and, at the same time, share something with the fans.

So he came clean about how he adopted a baby boy from a woman who was dying of cancer, to whom he’d promised he would take care of her son. The post was so emotional and apparently honest that it got almost 1 million likes in a matter of hours, Us Weekly informs.

Unfortunately, the post also happened to be fake. The same media outlet describes it as one of those typical Facebook hoaxes that was actually trying to lure visitors into donating money for a charity that didn’t exist, through the purchase of a T-shirt that read “Young Wild and Free.” No word how that linked to Gosling and his adoption secret, but feel free to imagine what you will.

The bottom line is that “ovaries exploded” all over the world when female fans heard of Ryan’s moving gesture, to quote a very passionate fan.

If you read the fake post, it’s not difficult to understand this kind of reaction: if this were true, Gosling would absolutely be the most caring, generous, and kind person to have around. Also, honorable.

“This father's day, I've decided to tell the story of how I became a father. This little guy was only 9 months old when I became his dad. His mom and I were great friends before she passed away from cancer. I promised her, I'd always look after him. So, I had decided to step up and become his dad. He brought me so much joy. He was my everything,” the fake Gosling wrote.

“1 year later after the adoption, his biological father wanted him. Of course, I put up a fight, but he won. That 1 year of being his father taught me how to love unconditionally. We have to stop and be thankful for our children and children should stop and be thankful for their parents. What I truly learned most of all is, every child needs love,” the post further said.

As of now, the fake Facebook Ryan Gosling page, which had almost 170,000 likes in total even though it wasn’t verified, is no longer available. As for the fans who bought the lie, we’re hoping they’ll recover. There still is time for Gosling to have little adorable Goslings, adopted or not.
