He may be considered one of the most handsome (and talented) young actors around, but Ryan Gosling certainly doesn’t see himself in this light. If anything, he’d say he’s anything but.
The actor, now shooting for “Gangster Squad” in Los Angeles, recently addressed all the fuss around his good looks – and said that he’d rather describe himself as odd-looking than handsome, the
Daily Mail informs.
“I’m not that good looking. I think I’m a pretty weird-looking guy,” he told reporters, even though female fans would never get enough of his sweet smile and charming icy blue eyes.
“Every role I got up until The Notebook [in 2004] was the weirdo, freak, psychopath, nerd, outsider character guy. I think things have changed,” he adds.
Indeed, things
have changed: not only is Ryan a
hot commodity in Hollywood right now, but his appeal to fans has also seen an incredible boost in recent years – and he doesn’t have his looks to thank for that, but rather his talent.
After the critically acclaimed “Drive,” which is still running in theaters (see our review of it
here), the actor appeared in the politically-themed “Ides of March,” opposite George Clooney.
For the latter, he’s already getting serious Oscar buzz, especially since,
the previous edition, many of his fans felt he’d been robbed of his Best Actor nomination and win for “Blue Valentine”: Colin Firth took home the statuette for his work on “The King’s Speech.”
Being a “weird-looking guy” has also helped Ryan date some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood: his former loves include “Notebook” co-star Rachel McAdams and Sandra Bullock.
Though he once said that he believed he would never find another woman to top these two, whom he deemed “the best girlfriends” possible, Ryan is now linked to stunner Eva Mendes – perhaps she can give it a try.
