After the open conflict he had with coach Sir Alex Ferguson, the Dutch striker of Manchester United, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, seems to be very close on joining the San Siro side of Silvio Berlusconi. Especially since the Italian club has missed the chance to re-sign Ukrainian star, Andryi Shevchenko, Ruud seems to be their main target.
Actually, it wasn't just Van Nistelrooy they chased these past few weeks. Another player that the Milanese officials have put their eyes on was Chelsea's Didier Drogba. After admitting that he can't wait to leave Chelsea to play in the Italian Serie A, Drogba
received a final blow from his coach, Jose Mourinho: "Drogba will not leave Chelsea. He still has a contract good for another 2 years, and he will play at Stanford Bridge. Whether he likes it or not, that's his choice. He could play for pleasure, or he could play because he has to. That's something he has to decide for himself".
With all of that being said - before Shevchenko was so closely linked to a move to Chelsea - AC Milan has focused on bringing another great striker to San Siro. And what better footballer could they have found, if not Manchester's best scorer in the last decade? Especially since he argued day after day with Fergie, the club's officials will do almost anything to get rid of him. The sum that AC Milan will have to pay for Ruud could be around 12,5 million Euros.
As the player is concerned, he said that he is very disappointed and yet cannot believe why things have gotten so bad at Manchester. Especially since he stated, again, that he loves playing for Man U and that he would very much want to end his football carrier at Old Trafford. "People don't even know what really happened with me and Ferguson", said Ruud. Still, referring to his future in football, he admitted that: "I wish I could continue here more than anything in the world. But, given the situation, I feel like it would be better for everyone to just leave the club".
Although he received plenty of offers from Chelsea, it's pretty obvious that the Dutch striker wants to change the European league especially since a move to Chelsea would most likely end his relationship with Manchester fans. So, as soon as Sheva's move to Chelsea will be official, AC Milan will most likely make an offer - certainly after the World Cup though - to bring the Man U superstar to San Siro.
