Rust, the new game from Garry’s Mod creators Facepunch Studios, has managed to sell over 150K copies since it became available two weeks ago, on Steam Early Access.

Company founder Garry Newman has expressed his surprise at the unexpected success, especially considering the game is still an early alpha build that lacks many of the features envisioned for the final version.

“It very much feels like we have been given all of this money – but we haven’t yet earned it. That’s something we have to do now,” Newman was quoted by Gamasutra.

Rust is a first-person multiplayer survival game inspired by DayZ, where players are cast into the wilderness and have to struggle to find food and drink, construct shelter and craft makeshift weapons to defend themselves and hunt.

Additional information on Rust as well as the early access opt-in can be found on Rust’s Steam page.
