RedHack is not the only cyber threat that Turkey has to deal with right now. According to reports, Russian hackers might have stolen the personal details of around 54 million Turkish citizens.

The Hurriyet Daily News reports that the general manager of a research company called KONDA has revealed that the ID numbers, addresses and fathers’ names of 54 million voters have been stolen from political parties.

Apparently, Turkey’s Supreme Election Committee has been sharing the information with parties. However, since some political organizations don’t even have antiviruses installed on their computers, it was easy for the attackers to steal the data.

Such problems don’t appear to be uncommon in Turkey. A recent report from the country’s State Audit Board has revealed that some government institutions share citizens’ personal information online with other organizations without ensuring that it’s properly protected.
