The most well known spammer from Russian was murdered

Mosnews has announced today that Vardan Kushnir, one of the most known spammers in Rusia, was found dead in his apartment from Moscova. Kushnir, 35, was in charge of the American Language Center, an institution that organized American English classes.

During 2002 - 2003, Kushnir, has decided to promote the institution's activity and offer by sending millions of e-mails, and applying every spam techniques available. In an attempt to stop his activity, users have posted the phone number of the American Language Center on dating sites, promoting it as a center for cheap erotic services.

Kushnir, who was killed after being repeatedly hit in the head with a heavy object, was suspected of having connections with the Russian mafia, which is believed behind this.

The sites controlled by Kushnir were shut down several times due to the complaints related to the large quantities of generated spam and he received several death threats from angry users, especially from a group called the Spam Kings.

According to the Russian legislation, spam is not considered an illegal activity, the first anti-spam law project being proposed in 2005.
