Yesterday, the news broke that a judge in St. Petersburg had agreed to allow three members of the Arctic Sunrise's crew to get out of prison. Recent information on the topic says that, until now, a total of nine Greenpeace activists have been granted bail.

The organization details that, this November 20, it wired about $45,000 (about $60,800) for each of the detainees to Russian authorities, and that it is only a matter of days until the environmentalists are freed.

Should things go as planned, they will probably be reunited with their friends and families this coming weekend.

“Lawyers for Greenpeace today said there are a number of bureaucratic issues to resolve before any of the Arctic 30 are released from jail and they do not expect any of them to be out of prison until the weekend, possibly later,” Greenpeace writes on its official website.

“It is still not clear whether their movements will then be restricted. None of them have passports after they were confiscated following the seizing of their ship Arctic Sunrise by Russian security forces,” it adds.

Despite being released from prison, the nine activists must still attend court meetings and defend themselves against the hooliganism charges filed against them by Russian authorities.
