Danielle Spencer, Russell Crowe's wife, said there was no excuse for the actor's behavior inside New York's Mercer hotel on Monday.
Spencer told the Sun-Herald paper in Sydney: "I understand when you're apart the loneliness kicks in and obviously the phone becomes of paramount importance. This is where it's difficult, because I'm not condoning his behavior. I don't want to make excuses for him because I'm certainly not."
Danielle was alone in her car when she found out the news. "I was in my car on my own when I got news of the whole thing," Spencer said. "Contrary to reports, I was not overheard in a restaurant saying, 'Oh no, not again'. That's absolute rubbish."
