They are both famous and yet they do have problems: Sharon Stone was reportedly called "a chimpanzee" by former The Quick and the Dead co-star Russell Crowe.

The Oscar winner (for Gladiator) actor Russell Crowe has denied reports stating that he compared the femme fatale of the Basic Instinct movies Sharon Stone to an orangutan, insisting his comments were taken out of context.

This is a hard time for Sharon Stone, who has to face massive negative criticism for the sequel to Basic Instinct, yet she manages to keep herself in the public eye and face the bad press with grace.

The Australian actor (now an icon as a Hollywood rebel) appeared to claim Stone had undergone cosmetic surgery to maintain her stunning features.
The actress denied in every occasion the allegation implying she undergone the plastic beautician's knife.

Russell Crowe had reportedly said, "A lot has changed. You can end up looking like a startled chimpanzee," when talking about the looks of former onscreen partner Sharon Stone.

Yet he denies he made comments about the Basic Instinct actress' (good) looks and stated when asked about the controversy he created: "It was completely taken out of context."
