Russell Brand was once a wild man, and proof of that is his track record of arrests. It was precisely this that got him banned and deported from Japan the other day, as he tried to enter the country to be with wife Katy Perry on her tour.

Even before news of the ban got out in the press, Katy and Russell were tweeting up a storm about it. In her case, it makes sense, since it nearly broke her heart and, as she says in one of the hashtags, almost crushed her Tokyo dream.

“I’M SO EXCITED! I’M IN MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD! #JAPAN!!! #CALIFORNIADREAMSTOUR!!!” she first tweeted.

Three hours later, she revealed to her fans that her husband too was with her, but that he wouldn’t be joining her because he’d been banned from entering the country.

“So...my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed,” she added.

To prevent misunderstandings, she added that Russell got deported because of his criminal past, not because he’d done something bad recently.

“It was for priors from over 10 years ago!” she explained. She then recalled that she was there for her fans, and she put her personal woes aside, at least on Twitter.

“...But of COURSE I ♥ my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it’snotrightbutit’sokay,” she added.

Russell too found the time in between interviews with the authorities and coming to terms with the fact that he wouldn’t be seeing his wife live in concert, to tweet.

“Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick,” he joked on the social networking site.

As noted above, the former hellraiser has often come to the attention of the authorities: only in September last year, for instance, he got physical with a paparazzo at the airport and was put under citizen’s arrest, as we also informed you at the time.
