Report says Russell Brand doesn't want a dime of Katy Perry's money in the divorce

When Katy Perry and Russell Brand got married a little over a year ago, they were so convinced it was for life that, unlike other celebrities, they didn't even consider signing a prenup. Even so, Brand doesn't want her money.

Katy and Russell announced they were ending their 14-month marriage before the year 2011 was over, but they never said a peep about the reasons for the split.

Whatever they might be, the two are still on very good terms – so good that Russell is even willing to walk away from a lot of money, just to keep his ex happy, TMZ informs.

“Informed sources tell TMZ, Russell and Katy did NOT have a prenup. As a result, everything they earned during their 14-month marriage is community property — which means they’re each entitled to 50% of the pot,” the celebrity e-zine writes.

What with a brand new album out and a tour to support it, Katy made a fortune during the time she was married to Russell, which means he's more than entitled to half of that.

“Katy made $44 million [€33.1 million] between May, 2010 and May, 2011 – according to Forbes. The couple Married in October, 2010, so Russell could have scored a fortune if he exercised his community property rights,” TMZ notes.

Surprisingly, Russell doesn't a penny of Katy's money.

“As one source put it, 'This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person).' He doesn’t want Katy’s money. He’s happy to walk away with the money he earned – which is far less than what Katy raked in,” TMZ explains.

As we also informed you in January this year, word that Russell and Katy didn't sign a prenup had already been making the rounds, with many voices online questioning whether Brand should take any of the money Katy made during the marriage.

Sources even claimed that he'd already decided he would, presumably because he was broken-hearted and he couldn't come up with a better way of “getting back” at Katy.

According to the latest report, it would seem the two are trying to get divorced while being very civil to each other.
