The team at the Paradox Development Studio is delivering a new diary for Runemaster, its upcoming mix of tactics and role playing, which is designed to reveal the Skald class and give players some details about its unique gameplay mechanics.

On the official forums, the company states that, “The Skald rely on the magic of their songs to inspire their troops, augment their skills, heal the wounded and strike terror into the heart of the enemy. Their songs are as old as the worlds, their poetry both beautiful and deadly at once. Music so powerful it can enslave the enemy or reinforce the strength of their allies.”

For the Human race, a Skald hero wields a bow and prefers to support his troops and the Light Elf uses a similar setup, while the Giant race will use axes for the same hero.

The Darkeld Skald uses a crossbow and focuses on delivering more inspiration for his troops, while also healing them and weakening his enemies.

The unique abilities of the class include: Heroic Song, which increases damage for squad members by 10 percent; Eagle Eye, which deals damage to any enemy equal to the hero’s ranged attack and Healing Song, which heals all members of the squad by five points.

Runemaster will be launched before the end of the year.
